Fermenters and carboys for a clean fermentation
Fermentation is where the magic happens, and the vessel you do it in matters. A good fermenter keeps your beer sealed and clean while the yeast does its work, and lets you watch or measure progress along the way. The range here covers everything from simple fermenting buckets to glass and PET carboys and conical fermenters, plus the airlocks, stoppers and caps that go with them.
New to this? Our guide on how to choose fermenters and carboys helps you choose.
Bucket, carboy or conical
A fermenting bucket with a spigot is cheap, light and easy to clean, the natural first choice. A glass or PET carboy lets you see the beer and takes up less floor space, though glass needs careful handling. A conical fermenter is the step up for keen brewers, it lets you drop out the yeast and trub cleanly for a clearer beer. Whatever you pick, a good airlock and a tight-fitting lid or stopper are what keep the batch safe.
A worthwhile upgrade and a solid gift
A better fermenter is the upgrade most homebrewers reach for, so it makes a genuinely useful present. Pair it with the right homebrew equipment, or start a beginner off with a complete beer making kit. For more present ideas, see our beer gift guides.
