What you will need to play
You do not need much to get going, but a few cheap staples make the night run smoother. Here is the kit we reach for.
What you need
- A big ring of plastic cups in the middle of the table, one per player plus a few extra
- One larger cup in the center filled with beer, the loser’s cup
- Two ping pong balls
- A drink for everyone, the outer cups get a small pour each
How to set up
- Fill a ring of cups with a small amount of beer and place them in a circle on the table.
- Put one bigger cup in the center. This is the punishment cup.
- Everyone stands around the table. Two players sitting opposite each other start with a ball each.
How to play
- The two starters race. Both try to bounce their ball into the cup in front of them.
- Sink it, pass it. When you land your ball in a cup, pass the cup and ball to the person on your left, then it is their turn to sink.
- The chase. If the player behind you sinks their ball before you sink yours, they can slap your cup away. You are caught.
- Caught? Drink and grab. Chug the center cup, refill it, and put your ball back in play. Now you are chasing to catch the next person.
- Keep the panic going until you run out of beer or nerve.
Pro tips
- Bounce with a flick, not a throw. A short controlled bounce off the table lip drops in far more often.
- Watch the person behind you. The whole game is a chase. If they are on a hot streak, rush your shot.
- Do not over-pour the cups. Small amounts keep the game fast and stop it turning into a chugging contest.
