Love Island Drinking Game: Rules for the Villa

I’ve got a text! And I’ve got a drinking game. Love Island is basically built for one: the recouplings, the grafting, the endless catchphrases. Grab a drink, get comfy, and play along with the villa.

What you will need to play

You do not need much to get going, but a few cheap staples make the night run smoother. Here is the kit we reach for.

How it works

Put on an episode, agree the triggers, and drink whenever the Islanders do their thing. During a recoupling or a Casa Amor episode, soften the rules.

Take a drink every time…

  • Someone gets a text
  • A contestant says “my type on paper”
  • Someone is “grafting” or “cracking on”
  • A recoupling happens
  • Someone says “it is what it is”
  • There is a challenge
  • Someone cries in the dressing room

Finish your drink when…

  • A couple is dumped from the island
  • Casa Amor is announced

Pro tips

  • Agree the rules before you press play. No arguing over what counts once it is rolling.
  • Go easy on the common triggers. If something happens every scene, make it a sip.
  • Have water on hand. A full film is a long session, pace yourself.
Every recoupling and every my type on paper is a sip.

Pros and cons

Pros
  • Catchphrases and texts trigger constantly
  • Perfect for a group watch party
  • No knowledge of the show needed to join in
Cons
  • So many triggers you must keep it to sips
  • Runs long over a full series

Frequently asked questions

How do you play the Love Island drinking game?

Drink on the show’s staples: every text, every ‘my type on paper’, every graft and every recoupling. Finish your drink when a couple is dumped.

Is Love Island good for a drinking game?

Very. The catchphrases and recouplings come so often that you should keep the pours light, especially during a Casa Amor episode.
