Century Club Drinking Game: 100 Shots in 100 Minutes

Century Club is a test of stamina, not skill. The rule is simple and brutal: one shot of beer every minute for 100 minutes straight. That is a hundred shots, which works out to about eight or nine beers over an hour and forty. Simple to explain, hard to finish.

What you will need to play

You do not need much to get going, but a few cheap staples make the night run smoother. Here is the kit we reach for.

What you need

  • Enough beer for 100 shots per player (roughly 8 to 9 beers each)
  • A shot glass per player
  • A timer or an app that pings every minute
  • Snacks and water for after

How to play

  1. Set the timer to buzz every minute.
  2. Take one shot of beer each time it buzzes.
  3. Repeat for 100 minutes. Miss a shot and you are out.
  4. Finishers join the Century Club.

Variations

  • Power Hour: the shorter version, one shot a minute for 60 minutes.
  • Half Century: 50 shots in 50 minutes for a gentler night.
  • Playlist version: use a power-hour playlist that changes track every minute as your timer.

Survival tips

  • Eat first. Never start this on an empty stomach.
  • Pick a lighter beer. Lower ABV makes the difference over 100 shots.
  • Know your limit. There is no shame in tapping out. A hundred shots is a lot of beer in a short window.
A hundred shots of beer in a hundred minutes, one bad idea.

Pros and cons

Pros
  • Simple to run, just a timer and shots
  • A proper group challenge
  • Easy to scale down to a half century
Cons
  • A hundred shots is a lot, know your limit
  • Gets repetitive without music or company

Frequently asked questions

How much do you drink in Century Club?

One shot of beer every minute for 100 minutes is roughly 8 to 9 standard beers. That is why a lighter beer and a full stomach make all the difference.

What is the difference between Century Club and Power Hour?

Power Hour is 60 shots in 60 minutes. Century Club stretches it to 100 shots in 100 minutes, so it is a bigger endurance test.
