My Opinion Of The Beers That I've Tried:
14.5 points overall
-
Amber
Style 6 - American-style Pale Ale
- 11.5 points - Beer #17-1302, at the brewery, February 13, 1996
Red-amber clear, OK head. Lots o'caramel aroma. Caramel flavor, hops...musty. Not impressed at all.
-
Bombay Bomber IPA
Style 5 - English-style Pale Ale
- 14.5 points - Beer #17-1301, at the brewery, February 13, 1996
Red-amber. Spicy aroma. Very spicy flavor. Some malt, but VERY spicy hops!
- 17 points - Beer #16-1266, American Craft Brewers Academy, Torrance CA, February 11, 1996
Amber-brown, good head. Big spicy hop nose. Good body and crystal flavor. Real Good spicy hop flavor and bitter finish. Dry hopped with Cascades. Michael Jackson notes, "If I want a good IPA, I come to America for it. I can't find it in Britain."

Hefeweizen
Style 6 - American-style Pale Ale
- 13 points - Beer #17-1300, at the brewery, February 13, 1996
Gold opaque, OK head. Malty nose, hint of wheat. Bitter-fruity late, malty, wheat flavor OK.
-
Java Stout (beer engine)
Style 11 - Stout
- 18.5 points - Beer #17-1273, American Craft Brewers Academy, Torrance CA, February 11, 1996
Served from a poly-cube. Pretty black. Good brown head, but huge bubbles. Coffee, roasty, not as "up-yer-nose" as Rogue Shakespeare Stout (16-1271). Big coffee flavor. Real Smooth and Silky. Nice sweet touch in middle. Smooth coffee finish. On the subject of Stouts, Michael Jackson says that Whitbread is introducing an Oyster Stout on St.Valentines Day, and is promoting it as an aphrodisiac.

-

Golden, OK head, low carbonation. OK malt aroma, some esters. Bitter. Bitter start, hop flavor in middle, bitter finish.
