My Opinion Of The Beers That I've Tried:
14.5 points overall
-
#119 ESB
Style 7 - English Bitter
- 17.5 points - Beer #17-1319, at the brewery, February 15, 1996
Golden-red. Good carbonation, low head. Hints of chocolate aroma, fair amount of brown malt and spicy hops. Good body and good mix of flavors. Caramel, brown, chocolate, hop flavor, pretty fair bitter finish.
-
#119 Maibock
Style 12 - Bock
- 16.5 points - Beer #8-521, Great American Beer Festival XIII, Denver CO, October 21, 1994
Alcohol nose.
-
Golden Spike Pilsner (bottled)
Style 15 - Classic Pilsener
- 13 points - Beer #16-1240, Moloka`i Wines and Spirits Unlimited, Kaunakakai HI, January 8, 1996
Dark yellow opaque, good head, high carbonation. Sweet-candy aroma...like some Bocks. Vaguely reminds me of Spaten Oktoberfest in flavor, but not as heavy. More grainy-malt flavor. OK bitter finish. "Handcraft Brewed - Fresh Malted Barley and Golden Hops." (Golden hops...?) $5.59 per 22-oz bottle!

- 12 points - Beer #17-1316, at the brewery, February 15, 1996
Golden-amber, low carbonation, good head. Pretty clean aroma, faint vegetal hops. Good body. Bitterish in middle, mostly sweet in finish.
