My Opinion Of The Beers That I've Tried:
13.0 points overall
Style 18 - German-style Ale
- 12 points - Beer #34-3032, 1998 Great Taste of the Midwest, Madison WI, August 8, 1998
Amber, some hazy, thick head. Smells a little cheesy, like cheddar. Medium body, some hop flavor, not bitter, cheesy.
Style 19 - German-style Wheat Beer
- 13.5 points - Beer #35-3298, 1999 Blues & Brews Festival, Oshkosh WI, July 17, 1999
Yellow opaque, thick head. Faintly smoky aroma. Light body, banana flavor, slightly sour. Finishes clean.
William Capen Bitter Ale (bottled)
Style 7 - English Bitter
- 13 points - Beer #35-3271, 1st Wines and Spirits, Allouez WI, May 8, 1999
Bottled in a half-gallon growler. Bright amber, massive head. Skunky-smoky-hoppy aroma. Medium body, nice malt background, nice hop balance, but moderatedly skunked.
