My Opinion Of The Beers That I've Tried:
12.0 points overall
-
Bohemian Pilsner (bottled)
Style 15 - Classic Pilsener
- 12 points - Beer #25-2009, Kona Wine Market, Kailua-Kona HI, February 7, 1997
Bright dark-golden, high carbonation, big head. Slightly musty aroma. Bitterish, faintly metallic middle, cloying finish.
-
Honey Wheat
Style 23 - Specialty Beer
- 14 points - Beer #14-1075, The HopYard, Pleasanton CA, July 3, 1995
Amber opaque, big white head. Fresh, sweet aroma. Sweet, clover flavor and finish. Hint of caramel.
-
Wicked Ale (bottled)
Style 4 - Mild / Brown Ale
- 14.5 points - Beer #18-1465, Kamuela Liquor Store, Kamuela HI, May 11, 1996
Red-brown, good carbonation, good head. Brown sugar aroma, faintly metallic. Brown, sweet, bitter, metallic. Roasty finish is the most pleasant part of this beer.
-
Wicked Ale
Style 4 - Mild / Brown Ale
- 15 points - Beer #1-66, St.Mary's College Beer Festival, Moraga CA, June 13, 1993
Red. Very good head. Hops and chocolate malt aroma. Good flavor mix. Just a little sour taste that lasts too long. Better than I remember it, but why does everyone rave?
-
Wicked Lager
Style 16 - American Lager
- 15.5 points - Beer #1-67, St.Mary's College Beer Festival, Moraga CA, June 13, 1993
Clear. Strongly yellow. Thick head. Grassy nose. Very clean. Almost too clean. OK beer. Someone on rec.crafts.brewing suggested that Pete's "uses wicks in the brewing process," hence the name. Why not...I've heard stranger things, although I can't think of any just now.
-
Wicked Red
Style 4 - Mild / Brown Ale
- 7 points - Beer #7-406, The HopYard, Pleasanton CA, August 8, 1994
Red, not as red as Leinie's. Good head. Soapy smell...bah. Good body, but definite soapy flavor, and I'm pretty sure it's not the glass. Other flavors (caramel mostly) come through OK.
-
Wicked Red (bottled)
Style 4 - Mild / Brown Ale
- 12 points - Beer #7-427, Beer Across America, Castro Valley CA, August 24, 1994
August 1994 selection. Good white head. Looks almost identical to SLO Amber...not really red. Centennial aroma? Subdued in any case. Heavy body, but not a lot of flavor. Malty finish. Uninteresting, but drinkable.
-
Wicked Springfest (bottled)
Style 12 - Bock
- 12 points - Beer #30-2463, Willman's, Grand Island NE, March 20, 1998
Amber-brown, high carbonation, OK head. Not much aroma. Medium body, fizzy, sweet. Brewed by Stroh in Winston-Salem NC.
-
Wicked Summer Brew
Style 6 - American-style Pale Ale
- 9 points - Beer #12-883, The HopYard, Pleasanton CA, April 25, 1995
Golden, fizzy. Good head. Soapy smell. Tastes green, like hops. Tastes bland, like Pete's usually does.
-
Wicked Winter Brew (bottled)
Style 21 - Fruit / Vegetable Beer
- 12 points - Beer #29-2380, Willow Glen Liquors, San Jose CA, December 29, 1997
Amber-pink, thick head. Smells like Hi-C. Sweet raspberry flavor on top of a mildly malt beer. It's fruit-flavored Primo.
-
Wicked Winter Brew
Style 21 - Fruit / Vegetable Beer
- 11.5 points - Beer #9-616, The HopYard, Pleasanton CA, November 26, 1994
Red. Pretty flat. Good head. Apricot/peach aroma. Lots o'peach flavor.
