Blitz-Weinhard was owned by G.Heileman, which in 1997 was purchased by Stroh, which was purchased by Pabst and Miller in 2000. This historic brewery will be torn down to make room for some condos or something. Henry's brands are now brewed at the old Olympia plant, now owned by Miller.
My Opinion Of The Beers That I've Tried:
13.5 points overall
Hazelnut Stout (bottled)
Style 23 - Specialty Beer
- 13.5 points - Beer #31-2542, Willman's, Grand Island NE, March 23, 1998
Black, thick head. Noticeable hazelnut aroma, but not overpowering. Good body, burnt, sweet. The hazelnut flavor doesn't work with the stout flavor at all.
Henry Weinhard's Blue Boar Irish Style Ale (bottled)
Style 4 - Mild / Brown Ale
- 14 points - Beer #35-3242, 1st Wines and Spirits, Allouez WI, April 20, 1999
Golden, fizzy, thick head. Spicy aroma, slightly skunked. Light, malty, sweet, mild hoppy finish.
Henry Weinhard's Blue Boar Red Lager (bottled)
Style 16 - American Lager
- 13.5 points - Beer #35-3243, 1st Wines and Spirits, Allouez WI, April 20, 1999
Amber-brown, thin head. Mildly hoppy aroma. Light body, caramel flavor, some hops at the end.
