My Opinion Of The Beers That I've Tried:
14.5 points overall
-
Amber Ale (beer engine)
Style 6 - American-style Pale Ale
- 10 points - Beer #3-170, at the brewery, July 27, 1993
Amber. Hazy. Great head. Not much aroma. Thin. Sweet. Not impressed.
-
Amber Ale
Style 6 - American-style Pale Ale
- 16.5 points - Beer #3-165, at the brewery, July 27, 1993
Red-amber. Big bubbles in the head. Fruity hops and caramel malt aroma. Could be much more assertive. VNI. All of the right flavors are there, none are assertive enough, and yet it's a very good beer.
-
Best Bitter
Style 7 - English Bitter
- 12 points - Beer #3-163, at the brewery, July 27, 1993
Beautiful beer. Textbook color and head. Skunk aroma...faint but noticeable. OK body. Quite bitter, and flowery.
-
Brown Ale (beer engine)
Style 4 - Mild / Brown Ale
- 16 points - Beer #3-167, at the brewery, July 27, 1993
Same color as Brown (3-0166), but cloudy. Great thick head. More assertive aroma than Brown. Chewy. Flat, not fizzy like Brown.
-
Brown Ale
Style 4 - Mild / Brown Ale
- 14 points - Beer #3-166, at the brewery, July 27, 1993
Reddish-brown. Flat. Brown sugar nose. Very sweet caramel. Bitter. Fizzy. Tastes brown, but something's missing. Ordinary.
-
Golden Ale
Style 6 - American-style Pale Ale
- 15 points - Beer #3-164, at the brewery, July 27, 1993
Yellow, sparse bubbles, thin head. Malt aroma faint, no hops. Good body. Fairly bitter finish. Good hot weather beer, maybe.
-
Maibock
Style 12 - Bock
- 15 points - Beer #3-169, at the brewery, July 27, 1993
Looks identical to the Golden. Should be darker. Pungent bitter hops, Munich malt. Tasty. Very bitter and pretty sweet. Long long finish.
-
Main Sail Stout
Style 11 - Stout
- 17.5 points - Beer #3-168, at the brewery, July 27, 1993
Very deep red, opaque. Some black malt aroma. Thick and smooth, bitter and a hint of sour. Very draught-Guinness-like.
-
M and C Pilsner
Style 15 - Classic Pilsener
- 12.5 points - Beer #3-171, at the brewery, July 27, 1993
Dark yellow, hazy, great head. Munich malt, flowery aromas. High carbonation. Lots of malty sweetness...too much.
