My Opinion Of The Beers That I've Tried:
14.0 points overall
-
Autumn Ale
Style 4 - Mild / Brown Ale
- 13 points - Beer #7-445, at the brewery, October 19, 1994
Very nice amber. Good carbonation. Diacetyl and brown malt aromas. Good body, but diacetyl detracts.
-
Avalanche Amber (bottled)
Style 4 - Mild / Brown Ale
- 15.5 points - Beer #22-1872, Willman's, Grand Island NE, October 6, 1996
Amber, fairly high carbonation, OK head. Caramelly, slightly spicy aroma. Chewy, malty, hint of chocolate. Pretty well-balanced. "Best when enjoyed by 3/21/96."
-
Avalanche Amber
Style 4 - Mild / Brown Ale
- 15 points - Beer #5-264, at the brewery, September 8, 1993
Nice amber color, white creamy head. Crystal clear. Alcohol aroma, with fresh spicy hops. Good body and balance. Bitterness OK and fades fast. A little sweet. Mike's favorite. This tastes like a very strong beer, alcohol-wise.
-
Ballpark Brown Ale
Style 4 - Mild / Brown Ale
- 15.5 points - Beer #7-446, at the brewery, October 19, 1994
Light brown, flat. Subtle brown malt aroma. Smooth and clean. Some astringency. Maybe not sweet enough.
-
IPA
Style 5 - English-style Pale Ale
- 16 points - Beer #5-265, at the brewery, September 8, 1993
Amber, but much more pale than the Avalanche. Clear, good head. More spicy hop aroma. Very smooth. Lots of hops, but very well-balanced. Bitter but clean. Good beer!
-
Mountain Wheat (bottled)
Style 6 - American-style Pale Ale
- 13 points - Beer #22-1849, Willman's, Grand Island NE, October 1, 1996
Yellow, hazy, OK head. Citrusy aroma. Good body, very citrusy (orange) flavor, wheat finish.
-
Mountain Wheat
Style 6 - American-style Pale Ale
- 11.5 points - Beer #5-263, at the brewery, September 8, 1993
Very very pale. Very pale indeed. Good head and carbonation. Crystal clear. Very obvious clean wheat aroma. Not much hop character, but that's OK. Very thin. Quite bitter finish and fizzy start. Lots of wheat sweetness. The bitterness doesn't belong here. 60% wheat malt.
-
Oatmeal Stout
Style 11 - Stout
- 13 points - Beer #5-266, at the brewery, September 8, 1993
Dark red, not black at all, not quite opaque. Burnt nose, a little bit of fruity hops. Chocolate flavor. Sorta thin. Bitter bite, but the body Just Isn't There, especially for an Oatmeal Stout.
