My Opinion Of The Beers That I've Tried:
14.5 points overall
-
Boulder Creek Pale Ale
Style 6 - American-style Pale Ale
- 17 points - Beer #27-2214, at the brewery, September 6, 1997
Amber, very low carbonation and head. Nice spicy hop aroma. Good body, lots of fresh hop flavor and finish. Tasty beer.
Boulder Creek Brewing is not affiliated with Rock Bottom in any way, and they were in the area more than six years before this brewery appeared, but apparently Rock Bottom can afford better lawyers. At least that was the gist of the smug response I got from the bartender today.

Brown Bear Brown Ale (beer engine)
Style 4 - Mild / Brown Ale
- 16 points - Beer #27-2219, at the brewery, September 6, 1997
Brown opaque, thick white head. Smells even more chocolatey than the Red. Smooth, sweet, with just enough bitterness for balance. Lots of chocolate start to finish.
-
Brown Bear Brown Ale
Style 4 - Mild / Brown Ale
- 13.5 points - Beer #27-2216, at the brewery, September 6, 1997
Red-brown, flat, moderate head. Very very roasty aroma. OK body, not nearly as roasty as it smells. Not a lot there. Compare this one to Denver's Molly's Titanic Brown Ale.
-
Faller Wheat
Style 6 - American-style Pale Ale
- 12.5 points - Beer #27-2212, at the brewery, September 6, 1997
Yellow-white opaque, thin head. Wheat aroma, pretty clean. Lots of wheat flavor, quick but not intense hop flavor, extremely clean.
-
Pilsner
Style 15 - Classic Pilsener
- 13.5 points - Beer #27-2213, at the brewery, September 6, 1997
Golden, low carbonation, OK head. Very fruity aroma. Sweet, hoppy. Very clean, not a lot of character.
-
Raccoon Red (beer engine)
Style 6 - American-style Pale Ale
- 15.5 points - Beer #27-2218, at the brewery, September 6, 1997
Red-brown opaque, not a lot of head. Hint of hop aroma. Flat. Big chocolate flavor. Sweet finish.

Raccoon Red Ale
Style 6 - American-style Pale Ale
- 15.5 points - Beer #27-2215, at the brewery, September 6, 1997
Red-brown, low carbonation and head. Nice roasty nose. Pretty well-balanced, roasty with some spicy hints.
-
Stillwater Stout
Style 11 - Stout
- 12 points - Beer #27-2217, at the brewery, September 6, 1997
Pretty dark brown, no head. Smells a little musty, sticky. Thick enough, sweet, kinda roasty, not real bitter.
