My Opinion Of The Beers That I've Tried:
15.0 points overall
-
Hoppy Claus Holiday Ale (bottled)
Style 22 - Herb / Spice Beer
- 14.5 points - Beer #27-2252, Willow Glen Liquors, San Jose CA, September 15, 1997
Brown, hazy, big white head. Ginger aroma, nutmeg maybe. Good body, hoppy, same spices as aroma. A little too bitter, but not bad.
-
Hoppy Face Amber Ale (bottled)
Style 6 - American-style Pale Ale
- 13.5 points - Beer #27-2220, Willow Glen Liquors, San Jose CA, September 6, 1997
Amber, moderate carbonation, nice head. Tettnang aroma. Good body, lots of hoppy caramel flavor. Not bad, but not as good as I remember it. There's a map of the constellation Sagittarius on the neck label...maybe it's a code for the bottling date?

Hoppy Face Amber Ale
Style 6 - American-style Pale Ale
- 15.5 points - Beer #11-773, The HopYard, Pleasanton CA, February 11, 1995
Nice amber, light carbonation, good head. Spicy green hop aroma. Fine body...bitter! Nice clean fresh-hop finish. Definitely big caramel flavor. Not quite balanced.
- 16 points - Beer #8-514, Great American Beer Festival XIII, Denver CO, October 21, 1994
Spicy aroma.
-
Liquid Sunshine Blonde Ale (bottled)
Style 6 - American-style Pale Ale
- 14 points - Beer #27-2225, Willow Glen Liquors, San Jose CA, September 6, 1997
Fairly pale, some haze, moderate carbonation, OK head. Sweet, spicy aroma. Tastes like bitter bread. Good body, high carbonation, grainy, bitter.
-
Total Eclipse Black Ale (bottled)
Style 9 - Porter
- 17 points - Beer #27-2249, Willow Glen Liquors, San Jose CA, September 14, 1997
Black, big brown head. Roasty, hoppy aroma. Big body, fairly high carbonation, lots of roasty hoppy flavor. Bitterness increases through the finish.
