• California Brown Ale
  Style 4 - Mild / Brown Ale
  • 16.5 points - Beer #25-2046, 1997 Kona Brewers Festival, Kailua-Kona HI, March 15, 1997
    Brown-red, low carbonation, good head. Sweet, roasty aroma. Sweetish, some roastiness, some bitterness, especially late.

• California Brown Ale (bottled)
  Style 4 - Mild / Brown Ale
  • 16.5 points - Beer #25-2029, Kamuela Liquor Store, Kamuela HI, March 4, 1997
    Red-brown, high carbonation, good head. Roasty-sweet aroma. Bitter, sweet with roast malt. Hints of chocolate, hints of hops. Bitterness late, lots of hop flavor in the finish.

• California Pale Ale (bottled)
  Style 6 - American-style Pale Ale
  • 19 points - Beer #25-2028, Kamuela Liquor Store, Kamuela HI, March 4, 1997
    Golden-amber, big head, OK carbonation. Grassy hop aroma. First impression: Anchor Steam! But not as bitter, probably smoother. Real nice balance, real pleasant lingering hoppy finish...some grapefruit flavor.
