Pretty good beers. The kitchen was closed for remodeling when I was there...didn't even have any bar snacks! And there's no rail on the bar...
Directions: Take Highway 1 south from San Luis Obispo, turn left on Grand. (If you turn right, you'll get Really Wet.) The pub is a couple of blocks along on the left.
My Opinion Of The Beers That I've Tried:
14.0 points overall
-
Barleywine
Style 1 - Barley Wine
- 14.5 points - Beer #12-905, at the brewery, April 28, 1995
Dark red-amber opaque. Citrusy-orange aroma. Good body...has a fruity candy flavor that I can't place. Slightly astringent - yet - cloying finish.
-
Copper Penny Amber
Style 6 - American-style Pale Ale
- 15 points - Beer #12-903, at the brewery, April 28, 1995
Amber, clear, low carbonation, OK head. Some faint caramel aroma. Good caramel flavor and well-balanced bitterness. All beers here have low visible carbonation but tactile carbonation is OK...
-
Grover Gold
Style 6 - American-style Pale Ale
- 13.5 points - Beer #12-902, at the brewery, April 28, 1995
Certainly is gold...low carbonation, good white head. Clean aroma...again. These beers are good, but they could use some late hopping. Bitterness is OK. Malts definitely in background. Still, not a bad beer.
-
Pismo Porter
Style 9 - Porter
- 12.5 points - Beer #12-904, at the brewery, April 28, 1995
Dark red, clear. Big head from line overpressure. Grainy aroma, some coffee. Coffee flavor burst fades WAY too quick. OK body, but flavors lag.
-
Sandy Wheat
Style 6 - American-style Pale Ale
- 14 points - Beer #12-900, at the brewery, April 28, 1995
(Unfiltered) Yellow, low carbonation and head. Some wheat aroma...faint. Sweet...excellent wheat flavor. Sweet finish too.

Wheat
Style 6 - American-style Pale Ale
- 13.5 points - Beer #12-901, at the brewery, April 28, 1995
Clear yellow, very low carbonation, OK head. Clean aroma. Flavor much like the unfiltered version (12-0900), but cleaner...less character.
