My Opinion Of The Beers That I've Tried:
14.5 points overall
-
Oatmeal Stout (bottled)
Style 11 - Stout
- 14 points - Beer #19-1518, Willow Glen Liquors, San Jose CA, June 17, 1996
Almost black, big brown head. Vegetal aroma, slightly oxidized. Sweet, black, some molasses flavor. OK bitter finish. Smooth, but ordinary. Thanks to Paris Cunningham for bringing this beer to Hawai`i for me!
-
Old Nick (bottled)
Style 1 - Barley Wine
- 16.5 points - Beer #36-3556, Belmont Station, Portland OR, October 3, 2000
Deep red, thick head. Rich hoppy caramel malt aroma. Thick, malty, creamy, clean.
-
Ram Rod Special Bitter Ale (bottled)
Style 7 - English Bitter
- 13 points - Beer #33-2820, Willman's, Grand Island NE, May 31, 1998
Red amber, very high carbonation, thick head. Sharp odor, like Sam Smith's. Medium body, mildly bitter, good malt flavor, some diacetyl.
-
Special London Ale (bottled)
Style 5 - English-style Pale Ale
- 15 points - Beer #36-3541, Belmont Station, Portland OR, September 24, 2000
Bottle-conditioned. Bright amber, extremely high carbonation, thick head. Bottle gushed on opening. Fruity-flowery hop aroma. Light body, fizzy. Big mildly bitter hop flavor. Malty drying finish. Good beer, except for the overcarbonation.
