My Opinion Of The Beers That I've Tried:
16.0 points overall
-
1845 Bottle Conditioned Ale (bottled)
Style 7 - English Bitter
- 16 points - Beer #36-3543, Belmont Station, Portland OR, September 25, 2000
Bright amber-brown, insanely fizzy, massive head. Fruity-toasty aroma. Extremely fizzy, Fruity hops and toasty malt flavor. Mildly bitter finish. Good beer, except for the overcarbonation.
-
ESB
Style 7 - English Bitter
- 14 points - Beer #8-588, Pacific Coast Brewing, Oakland CA, November 7, 1994
Amber, flat. Some caramel aroma, some fruity hops. Diacetyl, alcohol flavors. Smooth, sweet, flat. Not particularly bitter.
- 17 points - Beer #2-110, Pacific Coast Brewing, Oakland CA, June 28, 1993
"Copper-colored" by-the-book. Very fruity nose, but not unpleasantly so. Bitter...very good. Crystal malt in background. Phenomenal. Defines the style.
-
ESB Export (bottled)
Style 7 - English Bitter
- 18 points - Beer #18-1397, Kamuela Liquor Store, Kamuela HI, April 26, 1996
Red, moderate carbonation, pretty big head. Good fresh British hop nose. Smooth, bitter, tasty. Pretty big beer, eminently drinkable. Finishing bitterness catches in the throat...just a little.
-
India Pale Ale (bottled)
Style 5 - English-style Pale Ale
- 15 points - Beer #36-3411, Flanagan's Stop and Shop, Appleton WI, March 31, 2000
Amber, moderate carbonation and head. Berry aroma. Medium body, lots of malt, mildly hoppy. Very mild bitterness in the finish.
-
London Porter (bottled)
Style 9 - Porter
- 15.5 points - Beer #36-3542, Belmont Station, Portland OR, September 25, 2000
Deep dark red, moderate carbonation, thick head. Sweet aroma, like dark brown sugar. Medium body, big roasty flavor, sweetish. Mild hoppy bitterness at the end. Fairly high carbonation.
-
London Pride (bottled)
Style 5 - English-style Pale Ale

Bright amber, moderate carbonation, good head. Mildly fruity aroma. Medium body, lots of caramel maltiness, real nice hop balance, not all that bitter. Nice clean hoppy finish. "Best before 14 May 99".
-
