My Opinion Of The Beers That I've Tried:
13.0 points overall
-
AK Original Bitter (bottled)
Style 7 - English Bitter
- 15 points - Beer #26-2131, The Liquor Collection, Honolulu HI, August 11, 1997
Amber, moderate carbonation, low head. Smells like melted butter. Fruity diacetyl maltiness all the way through. Strangely well-balanced.
-
Special Reserve Anniversary Porter (bottled)
Style 9 - Porter
- 11 points - Beer #26-2133, The Liquor Collection, Honolulu HI, August 11, 1997
Dark red-brown, moderate carbonation, OK head. Smells sweaty. Sweet, black, some roasty flavor in the middle. Strange yet familiar hop flavor...I wonder if Samuel Smith's uses this Bramling Cross variety.
-
Special Reserve Oatmeal Ale (bottled)
Style 5 - English-style Pale Ale
- 12.5 points - Beer #26-2138, The Liquor Collection, Honolulu HI, August 13, 1997
Amber-brown, moderate carbonation, very little head. Smells of fusels, diacetyl. Lots of diacetyl taste, with a bit of "Smith's" flavor. Good body, fairly smooth, but astringent at the end. I don't know...maybe it would grow on you. "Oatmeal, crystal, and pale malts...whole leaf Golding hops".
