My Opinion Of The Beers That I've Tried:
13.5 points overall
-
Double Dragon
Style 5 - English-style Pale Ale
- 15.5 points - Beer #16-1260, Naja's, Redondo Beach CA, February 10, 1996
Is this a Bock? Dark red, good carbonation and head. Alcoholic aroma, some solvent. Thick and chewy, even in finish. Alcohol and caramel work well together. Warming.
-
Thames America Festive Ale
Style 5 - English-style Pale Ale
- 13 points - Beer #9-668, Pacific Coast Brewing, Oakland CA, December 27, 1994
Red-pale, no head. Alcohol aroma, some hops and caramel. Good body. Sweet, thick. Caramel. Fairly clean.
-
Thames Welsh Ale (bottled)
Style 5 - English-style Pale Ale
- 13 points - Beer #18-1467, Kamuela Liquor Store, Kamuela HI, May 12, 1996
Dark red, moderate carbonation, good head. Toffee and hop aroma. Bitter. Some vegetal flavors. Toffee. Too extreme. (Hockey note: Jagr gets a hat trick. Lemieux gets a hat trick. Rangers are out of the playoffs. Again.)
-
Thames Welsh Bitter Ale (bottled)
Style 7 - English Bitter
- 15.5 points - Beer #18-1396, Kamuela Liquor Store, Kamuela HI, April 26, 1996
Red-amber, moderate carbonation, good head. Some diacetyl aroma, fairly hoppy. Smooth, reasonably bitter, with a good malty flavor. Didn't like the first sip, but it's growing on me.

Welsh Bitter
Style 7 - English Bitter
- 9.5 points - Beer #2-162, Pacific Coast Brewing, Oakland CA, August 24, 1993
Amber, but on the light side. Not many bubbles at all...very thin head. Diacetyl aroma. Lots of it. Too too much of it. Vinegary, too. Body is OK. Flavor is not. WAY too much diacetyl. Vinegar. I've had this beer before, and I didn't like it, but I can't remember why. Now I know.
