My Opinion Of The Beers That I've Tried:
17.0 points overall
-
Alba Scots Pine Ale (bottled)
Style 23 - Specialty Beer
- 17 points - Beer #29-2381, Belmont Station, Portland OR, September 9, 2000
Red-amber hazy, thick head. Earthy, faintly herbal aroma. Medium body, BIG earthy herbal..."candied pine" flavor. Brewed from "malted barley bree, Scots spruce and pine sprigs". 7.5% abv.

Fraoch Heather Ale (bottled)
Style 23 - Specialty Beer
- 18 points - Beer #33-2748, Sam's Liquors, Chicago IL, April 24, 1998
Amber, fairly high carbonation, low head. Earthy floral aroma. Medium body, big and malty. Earthy floral flavor just like the aroma. The Picts chose extermination over betraying the secrets of heather ale...if their beer was anything like this one, I can understand why.

Grozet Gooseberry and Wheat Ale (bottled)
Style 23 - Specialty Beer
- 16 points - Beer #29-2400, Belmont Station, Portland OR, September 16, 2000
Golden, hazy, moderate carbonation and head. Smells Belgian. Light body, spicy-herbal flavor on top of the berries. Fizzy and sweet. Does the Belgian character come from the spices, or did they use a Belgian yeast? "Ingredients: Malted barley bree, Wheat, Gooseberries, Bog myrtle, Meadowsweet, Hops."
