Lvivske 1715 Review: Ukraine’s Leading Beer Brand

3.6/5
Lvivske 1715 is a clean, malt-forward Ukrainian lager with an unusually long brewing heritage behind it. It carries real weight as a cultural symbol in Ukraine, and the beer itself backs that up with a smooth, well-made profile.

Lvivske traces its roots to 1715, when Jesuit monks in Lviv received permission to establish a brewery, making it one of the oldest brewing traditions in Eastern Europe. Today the brand is owned by Carlsberg Ukraine and remains one of the country’s largest beer brands. Lvivske has taken on extra significance since 2022 as a symbol of Ukrainian identity and resilience, sponsoring the national football team and supporting local music and culture.

How It Tastes

Lvivske 1715 pours a bright gold with a solid, creamy head. The bottle itself has an embossed lion holding a mug, a nod to the brewery’s Lviv heritage. On the palate it delivers a clean malt sweetness upfront with a light bready character, moving into a smooth, only mildly bitter finish. It sits comfortably between a light lager and a fuller pilsner, easy enough to drink several of but with more backbone than the lightest macro brews. It is a well-balanced, unpretentious beer that earns its long history.

It drinks like a beer that has had three hundred years to get the basics right, and it shows.
