Independent London brewery Park Brewery has closed after 12 years, citing rising costs and tough trading conditions that made running both the brewery and its Park Brew and Kitchen venue unsustainable. The Kingston upon Thames business told customers it had “adapted again and again” over the years, cutting costs, finding new customers and developing new income streams, including opening Park Brew and Kitchen in 2024, but had reached the point where continuing no longer made sense.
Co-owner Frankie Kearns told Teddington Town that after 12 years, the team had made “the very difficult decision that we can’t continue running The Park Brewery and Park Brew and Kitchen ourselves.” Kearns described a “relentless combination of rising costs, difficult trading conditions and, more recently, some expensive equipment issues,” adding that the business had fought hard for a long time before reaching the decision to call it.
There is a possible silver lining. Kearns said the brewery has had “a surprising amount of interest” since the closure became public, and is currently in talks with several parties about potentially taking on the brewery, the site, or the brand. “So we’re keeping everything crossed that something positive might still come from it,” Kearns said.
The team thanked its investors, staff and customers via social media for keeping the business going for 12 years, adding that it is “exploring every possible way forward for the brewery.” No timeline has been given for when, or whether, a new operator might be confirmed.
