Standing version
The original backyard version has both players seated in chairs with a full can on the ground in front of them. If you do not have chairs handy, play standing instead, everything else stays the same.
Drink to the hole
Instead of chugging the whole can on a puncture, open it and drink down to the level of the hole, then set it back down and keep playing. The can stays in the game until it is knocked over or punctured again right at the bottom.
